The use of topical anesthetic is a decision that should be made between provider and patient; it is certainly not necessary. This is because the integrated chill plate keeps the epidermis cool during treatment, while allowing the light to safely reach its target.
Skin types 1-5 (using the Fitzpatrick scale) can be safely treated with BBL® HERO™. The safety of BBL® HERO™’s chiller system and integrated sapphire chill plate maintains the desired temperature of the skin within 1 degree of variability.
